Shipping & Returns

SHIPPING POLICY & PROCEDURES
  • Free Ground/Surface Shipping to US destinations on orders over $100 (Excluding EcoSpheres - these require overnight express service)
  • $6.95 Flat Fee for Ground/Surface shipping in the US on orders under $100 (Excluding Ecospheres)
  • Free Shipping on most Meade telescope products to US destinations regardless of price
  • EcoSphere shipping prices are detailed in the table below

In-stock items placed before 5 p.m. Pacific time will ship the following business day. Delivery time will depend on the shipping method you select and availability of the items. Your credit card will not be charged until the items are shipped to you.   If you choose to pay by check, the products will be shipped after the check has cleared the bank.
 
Product Availability
Products are generally kept in-stock and available for immediate shipment. If your order contains an item that is out of stock, your entire order will be held until the out-of-stock item is back in stock. You will be notified via email of any delays and given a best estimate regarding when the item will be available for shipment.  If a back order is not acceptable, the order can be cancelled upon your request.
 
Meade Telescope Product Shipping Policy
Meade Telescope products will be drop shipped from the Meade warehouse in Irvine, California.  If the Meade warehouse is out of stock we will notify you via email regarding the estimated date of shipment.   If a back order is not acceptable, the order can be cancelled upon your request.  If a back order is acceptable, we will ship all items as soon as they become available and will not delay shipment until all items are available.
 
EcoSphere Shipping Requirements:
The EcoSpheres are shipped to you directly from the manufacturer to insure that the system arrives in the best possible condition. Shipments are only made Mondays thru Thursdays and will arrive the next day.  This is required to insure that the package is not subjected to temperature extremes for extended periods and that the algae is not deprived of light sitting in a truck or warehouse over the weekend. We will notify you via email of the anticipated shipping date so that you can make the proper receiving arrangements. Typically the shipment will be made the week after you place your order. Please contact us by telephone (408) 996-2474 or email us if you have a specific date that you need the EcoSphere to arrive on (remember EcoSpheres will only arrive on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday). We will try to accommodate your request, but we cannot make any guarantees. 
 
The manufacturer may delay shipment if temperature extremes are anticipated at the shipping destination (below freezing). We will try to notify you of any such delays.

The EcoSpheres contain living organisms that are sensitive to temperature extremes.  Accordingly, we require that someone sign for the package rather than leave it at your doorstep. You should arrange to have someone available to sign for the package on the first delivery attempt. FedEx requires a signature for delivery. You may want to consider having the EcoSphere shipped to a commercial address to ensure that someone is available to receive it.
 
Open your EcoSphere as soon as possible upon arrival.  The algae in the system needs light to grow.
 
Shipping Methods
 
Meade Telescope products will ship to most US destination free of charge via UPS Ground Service regardless of order amount.
 
EcoSphere products are not eligible for free standard shipping.  All EcoSpheres must be shipped via FedEx overnight shipment.  This is required to keep the live organisms in the EcoSphere healthy.  Shipping charges will be applied for each EcoSphere ordered based on the following table:

Standard Shipping:  Standard shipping will be by USPS Parcel Post or Priority Mail, UPS Ground, or FedEx Ground.   If your order is over $100.00 the order will ship by one of these methods for free if the Standard Shipping Method is chosen.  Although the EcoSphere products are not eligible for free shipping, the price of the EcoSphere order will be included to meet the free shipping requirement for other products ordered at the same time.  Example:  If you order an EcoSphere Large Pod for $154.95 there will be a shipping charge of $25.00.  If you order an EcoSphere Large Pod + any other item(s) there will be a $25.00 shipping charge for overnight shipment of the EcoSphere and the other item(s) will ship free of charge via ground carrier. If you order multiple EcoSphere Large Pods there will be a $25.00 express shipping charge for each Ecosphere ordered.
 
We also offer express shipping via FedEx Express Saver (3 Day), FedEx 2 Day, & FedEx Standard Overnight.  Delivery time is based on business days; weekends are not included.  Express shipping charges are based on the package weight or dimensions and destination zip code. To ensure that you receive your package, a signature is required on all shipments.  It may be more convenient to ship to a business address to ensure that someone will be present to sign for the delivery. We cannot be responsible for any carrier delays in delivery.
 
FedEx Shipments: If you do not claim your express package within a few days it will be shipped back to us. A refund will not be given for any shipping charges.
 
If you accidentally chose the wrong shipping method when checking out please contact us ASAP. You are responsible for double checking your order before submitting it.

Tracking numbers will be sent to you via email for all FedEx shipments.

EXCHANGE & RETURN POLICY
 
We gladly accept returns with the following conditions:
•Items must be unopened, unused and in saleable condition
•Items must be sent back within 30 days of your original receipt of the item.
•You must first contact us for a return authorization number (RMA).  Please contact us via email at sales@naturesodyssey.com or phone at (408) 996-2474 to receive a RMA before sending any items back to us.
•Freight damages must be reported immediately to delivery carrier.
 
Returns that do not meet these criteria will NOT be refunded. Shipping charges are non-refundable.  Returned merchandise can be credited toward future purchases or a cash/credit refunds.
 
Returned merchandise MUST be returned in original condition within 30 days of receipt to receive a refund or store credit.  Original packaging must be included as well.  For example, if the item was shrink wrapped it must be shrink wrapped when returned.  A restocking fee of 10% will be applied to all returns in good condition.  This fee is to cover any credit card transaction fees and processing fees that we encounter.  
 
If we receive merchandise that is not in its original condition you will not receive a refund and must pay for shipping if you would like the item back. 
 
If there was an error in your order that is our fault we will gladly refund all shipping charges.
 
Unclaimed Packages
We do not refund shipping charges for unclaimed packages.  A processing fee of 10% will be applied to the order if returned to us.
 
Canceling Order
If you place your order and decide to cancel there will be a 10% restocking fee. This fee will be used even if the order has not been shipped yet. This is to cover any credit card transaction fees and processing fees that we encounter. If you catch the error early please email us as soon as possible. Sometimes these charges can be avoided if caught early enough.
 
After receiving an RMA from Nature’s Odyssey, please send returns to:

Repack merchandise with all of its original packaging, and arrange to have it shipped back to Nature’s Odyssey (Note: Nature’s Odyssey recommends that you insure your shipment). We will refund the money for the merchandise returned minus shipping cost (shipping cost is refunded if the item(s) arrived damaged or defective).
