The electromagnetic suspended globe is an impressive high-tech instrument. A magnetic field sensor continuously measures the height at which the globe is suspended. The sensor and the micro computer in the base control an electronic magnet in the upper part of the frame. This feedback loop monitors the distance between the globe sphere and the magnetic head and automatically adjusts the electronic magnet to control the globe.
An additional permanent magnet in the base holds the sphere safely on the frame when the suspension mechanism is switched of or in the event of a power failure.
